This year marks the 100^th anniversary of the launch of the physics discipline of Nankai University. On October 9^th, an anniversary conference was held on Balitai Campus. 

The conference was held both online and offline. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences including Zhang Jie, Gao Yuanning, Duan Wenhui, Fang Zhong, Cai Ronggen, and Bu Xianhe attended the conference. Yang Qingshan, Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee, delivered a speech via a video. Those in attendance of the event also included Xu Jingjun, Executive Vice President of Nankai University; Yang Kexin, Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee; Weng Xinguang, former Vice President of Nankai University; Wang Yongsheng, President of Beijing Information Science and Technology University; Luo Yan’an, Deputy Director of Tianjin Municipal Education Commission; Liu Yifang, President of Nankai Physics Alumni Association.

On behalf of Nankai University and President Chen Yulu, Yang Qingshan extended warm congratulations on the 100th anniversary of Nankai physics. Yang Qingshan said that physics, as a basic discipline of natural science, played a vital role in the development of Nankai University. Over a century, Nankai physics has cultivated a wealth of talents and made fruitful achievements. Yang Qingshan expressed his hope that Nankai Physics would make more first-class achievements in scientific frontiers, and that the alumni would, as always, support the development of their alma mater.

Zhang Guoquan, Dean of the School of Physics of Nankai University, reviewed the development of Nankai physics in the past century.

On behalf of the Chinese Physical Society, Academician Zhang Jie congratulated Nankai physics on its 100^th anniversary.  

Academician Gao Yuanning delivered a speech.

Academician Duan Wenhui delivered a speech.

Academician Fang Zhong delivered a speech.

Alumni representative Liu Yifang delivered a speech.

Alumni representatives of Nankai University at home and abroad including Zhang Wenzhong, Zhou Haibing, Zhou Da, Li Zhongze, An Hongjun, Han Tao, and Ge Yi delivered speeches via video.

Professor Hu Yi of the School of Physics of Nankai University delivered a speech on behalf of the faculty of Nankai physics.

Xu Tianyi, an undergraduate of the School of Physics of Nankai University, spoke as a student representative.

The centennial anniversary of Nankai physics has received broad attention and strong support from the alumni. On the anniversary conference, a donation ceremony was held and Nankai Development Fund for Physics Discipline was inaugurated.

The conference ended with the Nankai University anthem. Founded in 1922, the Department of Physics is one of the earliest of its kind among Chinese universities. With the unremitting efforts of Nankai people, Nankai Physics has gathered a number of top-notch domestic and international scholars, and has evolved into a key educational base for cultivating interdisciplinary high-level talents as well as an important research center.
